Ranchi: Chief Minister-designate Hemant Soren had got a historic mandate during the Jharkhand Assembly Polls, but not only his number of seats is huge, but also the expectation of the people of Jharkhand is high this time.

And it seems like the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) executive president is well aware of it.

On December 27, Hemant Soren tweeted that he is thankful for the love and affection of the people that he is getting. However, given the fact that his well-wishers are giving him flower bouquets to express their happiness, which would only wither away with time, he requested his visitors to gift him books, instead.

The 44-year-old leader urged his well-wishers to mention their names in the book so that when he would build a library, their contribution would also be acknowledged.

Paying heed to Soren’s request, his visitors gifted him over a few hundred books within a day and a half. A delighted, Soren, even tweeted pictures of the books that he got, with a message that no poor and underprivileged would miss education, as that is what he desires.

But this is not the only gesture of the CM designate that has touched the people of Jharkhand and beyond.

His tweet while returning from Delhi— “On my way back to Ranchi from Delhi yesterday late in the night I remembered meeting with Santoshi’s mother and her listless eyes speaking about how her daughter dies saying bhat bhat, remembered the countless youth who asked me why inspite of studying hard they couldn’t get (jobs) suitable job opportunities. I remember the farmer’s family in Mandar who went numb after he committed suicide jumping into the same well under MGNREGA & denied wage payment. This victory of @JmmJharkhand +@INCJharkhand + @RJDforIndia marks the beginning of a new dawn for Jharkhand (sic),” has appealed to masses. Many tweeted that seeing his sensitivity, their hope is still alive and that precisely for that reason the people of Jharkhand have chosen him.

Some also suggested keeping a photograph of Santoshi at his office, while some requested him to visit mob lynching victim Tabrez Ansari’s family.

The decision of Hemant Soren to withdraw the case against former Chief Minister Raghubar Das under the prevention of SC/ST Act has also appreciated by a lot of people.

With swearing ceremony of Soren as the CM of Jharkhand on December 29 having finally arrived, the clock begins to tick for the real work to begin…
