Rahul Gandhi Urges Bengal’s Intelligentsia to Lead, Fight Against Hatred
"People need a brother, not a dalal," says Gandhi as Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra resumes in Bengal
Jalpaiguri/Siliguri: “I want an India where the weakest person in the country feels that the country will save him. When he is afraid, he should feel that there is a brother who can save him,” said Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Siliguri.
The resumption of Gandhi’s yatra became more significant, as it was not only unwelcomed in Bengal by ruling Trinamool supporters, but INDIA block partner Janata Dal United, led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alienated from it and formed a government with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The Congress leader further stated, “I want an India where the one who works gets respect, but I regret to say that today, the ones who engage in ‘dalali’ get respect.”
No two kind of martyrs
In his 20-minute-long speech, Gandhi again attacked the Agniveer Scheme, stating that under the scheme, the government says, “You come to the Army, spend 4 years, and we will return 75 percent of them.” He criticized the scheme, saying that martyrs under the Agniveer scheme do not receive the same benefits as other Army cadres.
He also mentioned, “1.5 lakh youth were promised jobs before the Agniveer scheme. The government said they would get jobs after Covid. They have been kept waiting for three years and then told that neither can they get admitted to the Army nor under the Agniveer scheme. This kind of injustice is happening in the country. I want to raise such issues.”
Gandhi praised the intelligentsia of Bengal and urged the people of Bengal to lead the country. “It is your responsibility to show the path to the country. It was done by Rabindranath Tagore, Subhash Chandra Bose, and Vivekananda. If you do not show the path to the country, the country will not forgive you. You have to fight against hatred. With your intellectual power, you have to connect India.”
Earlier, Gandhi did a three-kilometer yatra in Jalpaiguri and met locals. Other Congress leaders, including Adhir Ranjan Choudhury, Jairam Ramesh, Youth Congress National President Srinivas BV, and Swaraj India’s Yogendra Yadav, also took part in it.
Because of BJNY’s success, Modi created political crisis in Bihar
The Wayanad MP did not speak to the media. However, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said on the Bihar crisis, “Since the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is gaining huge success, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did it before the yatra could enter Bihar to distract people.”
He claimed that Nitish Kumar breaking from the gathbandhan government in Bihar would not impact the INDIA block.
While social activist Yogendra Yadav told eNewsroom, “Nitish Kumar and my guru are the same. So we are Guru Brothers, but today, because of his act, I am ashamed of him. But it is good that such people, who have lust for power get exposed before the country.”
Jab Rahul ji Chalte Hain, Sareey BJP Ke Neta Jalte Hain
While speaking to eNewsroom, Youth Congress President Srinivas said on the current political crisis in Bihar and about the BJNY, “BJP is using ED, CBI to threaten the opposition. BJP does not want opposition, but Rahul Gandhi does not fear. There is jealousy among BJP leaders about Rahul Gandhi. Jab Rahul Ji Chalte Hain, Saarey BJP Ke Neta Jalte Hain, Ye Asliyat Hai. (When Rahul Ji walks, BJP leaders feel jealous. This is the reality). The Nyay Yatra will bring a big change in India.”
“India will soon realize that BJP is only a part of event management,” he added.
It is the second phase of Gandhi’s yatra. In 2022 also, he walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir- 4500 kilometres during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, with the message to eradicate hatred among Indians.
